Often when buying an antenna you’ll see that a frequency range is mentioned along with dafty images with bar charts and other graphs. What these charts show you is if an antenna covers certain frequency bands.
4G (LTE), GSM (900, 1700, 1800), GSM (USA) PCS, 3G, WI-FI, 5G, you name it. All of these and more run on different frequency bands. These frequency bands are expressed in megahertz, or MHz in short. Some antenna cover a wider range in frequencies, meaning that they’ll be able to provide a more stable connection within that frequency band.
For example, The Poynting A-MIMO-3-V2-XX series incorporates 2 to 7 antennas in a single antenna housing, providing 2-4 x Cellular, 2x Wi-Fi and a GPS. The 2-4x Cellular MIMO antennas (for 2G/3G/4G/5G) cover the 690 MHz to 3500 MHz band, as well as the 410-470 MHz band, which is becoming popular in the IoT industry. These ultra-wide band capabilities makes this antenna future proof and ready for 5G.
Worried if your antenna supports 5G? Don’t, this will always be mentioned in the product description when shopping at mifi-hotspots.com.
Sometimes you’ll see numbers mentioned like 2.4GHz and 5 GHz, this means something different. You can read all about that over here.
